Competitive Research Spreadsheet
You will need to do this spreadsheet for each search phrase you are researching. Again, yes, it’s a lot of work, but your success in SEO will be determined by the quality of the research you do. I also included the # of Backlinks in Yahoo! because Yahoo! uses different algorithms than Google and may list a completely different number of backlinks. However, it will give you an idea of what competition you are facing.
Create a spreadsheet of at least 20 keywords or phrases, the Average # of Global Monthly Searches in Google, and the Number of search results. It will look like this:
Next, when you have 20 in your list, highlight the 3 keywords or phrases you think you should target.
Then, using the Competitive Research Spreadsheet above, fill it out for your select three keywords or phrases. In a short paragraph, draw a conclusion about what you think would be your best keywords to go after. Justify your answer. Submit both spreadsheets and paragraph to your teacher.
Compile Your Research
SPECIAL NOTE: Because Google's platform for keywords continually changes, you may have to dig for answers.
